The idea of doomed love has long been a favorite theme in art.
Even filmmakers revisit it because it touches something we can all relate to.
It captures and turns the quiet heartbreak of unspoken emotions into unforgettable stories.
This February, prepare to have your heart torn apart as master director Brillante Mendoza ignites the screen with another great story about undying love.
From the makers of critically acclaimed films like “Ma Rosa”, “Thy Womb” and “Mindanao” comes “Until She Remembers”, another motion picture set to linger in your memory for a long, long time.
“Until She Remembers” is a quiet, emotionally resonant film about a young girl standing at the edge of loss and self-discovery.
When a struggling high school student (played by Barbie Forteza) is confronted with the painful fracture of her family, she seeks refuge far from the noise of her parents’ world (portrayed by Angel Aquino and Albert Martinez).
In the company of her grandmother (portrayed by Charo Santos), and an old friend (played by Boots Anson-Roa), she begins to see life from a distance — both tender and selfless.
Her lessons and realizations are things that cannot be learned from books, but only from a life lived.
“Until She Remembers” is less about answers than awakening — a restrained, poignant reflection on family, absence, and the fragile moment when a child begins to understand what it truly means to live.
From Solar Pictures with Mr. Wilson Tieng as executive producer, together with Centerstage Productions, the film is written and directed by the multi-awarded and Cannes Best Director awardee Brillante Mendoza.
A unique post-Valentine offering, “Until She Remembers” is the first screen teamup of screen icons Charo Santos and Boots Anson Roa with Barbie Forteza in a pivotal role.
It boasts also of the stellar support of Albert Martinez, Angel Aquino, Eric Quizon, Vince Rillon, Erlinda Villalobos, Perla Bautista, and Carlitos Siguion-Reyna.
The movie opens on February 25, 2026 (Wednesday) in cinemas nationwide.
